A Day in the life of... Lucy C!

A day in the life of Lucy…

I was so excited that it was finally Wednesday!  It seemed like an eternity since last week.  My usual daycare day is Wednesdays and I typically get a taxi ride home.  Dad took me to daycare today and told me I was going to have a spa day.  A spa day?  Every girl’s dream!  Perfect!  I was certainly in need for a spa day; I clearly lead a very stressful life of playing and playing and even more playing.

When I arrived at Preferred Pet Care I was brought outside to see my friends.  I was early though and my usual Wednesday taxi crew had not yet arrived.  No worries though I got to play with my other friends.  I am such a cheerful and friendly pup that I always make friends with everyone I meet.

When the taxi arrived I was overjoyed.  My boyfriend, Hogan (a white cream colored golden doodle) takes the taxi with his sister Maggie (a ginger colored golden doodle) and they practically come every day to Preferred Pet Care.  I love to play with Hogan I think it’s because we think a like and we both love to play non-stop.  We’re also both super cute and super friendly so essentially we’re a matched made in heaven.  I went over and greeted Hogan when he arrived and asked him to tell me everything I missed since I was last at Preferred Pet Care.  I found out that the bus we added an extra panel.  Hogan told me all about one of the new staff members that just started working (she hasn’t met all of us pups yet but hopefully she eventually will).  Hogan heard a rumor that they are rearranging the merchandise and the food upfront—pretty exciting, now I will certainly have to check out the new layout once that happens.  Since Hogan is always at Preferred Pet Care he’s practically a staff member and knows the scoop about what’s going on always.

After catching up with Hogan I decided to play with my girlfriends, Chloe (a medium size mixed that’s white with some brown “freckles” as we like to call them), and Sadie H (an absolute crazy energy Beagle/French Bulldog mix).  We ran all around the yard and we even got to be chosen to go and play with Joe in another yard.  Apparently we’re considered, “high energy” pups so Joe brought us to another yard to run us around along with Floyd and Shilo.  Once we were tired out we went back to play in Marci’s playgroup.  I said bye to my girls and went to see who else was at daycare for me to play with.  What fun, Fraiser another doodle who I haven’t seen in awhile was ready to play.  Charlie H (the viszla) decided to join in while we played in the yard.  So far, a very exciting day for me.

“Lucy C.  Lucy C.” I heard from a familiar voice with a blonde hair woman peering over the fence.  Yep, that’s me!  I wondered who it was, the voice sounded familiar but whom?  It was Brigitte the groomer!  Fabulous, it was time for my spa day!  Getting groomed is such a wonderful way to unwind after a long day of playing, playing, and of course more playing.  Brigitte escorted me back to the grooming room.  If you have not met Brigitte yet you absolutely must!  She has magic hands, she massages the shampoo nice and deep in your coat and she really gets all that extra undercoat out.  After my bath with de-shedding treatment I felt like I lost 10 pounds in hair alone.  Ahh… so relaxing! Well, now I am super clean, smelling wonderfully, and so relaxed.  I think (dare I say it) that I might be ready for a nap.  Maybe I will take just one little nap until my mom or dad comes to pick me up…  Well. Thank you for letting me tell you all about my day I’ll see you soon!

A day in the life of Magic...

Today is my first day here at doggie daycare.  My mom told me on Monday I was going back to Preferred Pet Care with a taxi ride there as a test run to see how I do on the bus.  I was so excited and over joyed I could hardly contain myself (both figuratively and literally- I had a little accident over the excitement).

Anyway, I boarded at Preferred Pet Care for a long stay in December over the holidays.  When I first came to Preferred Pet Care I must admit I was nervous it was my first time boarding and being away from home.  I’m only a puppy, only 8 months, so sleeping by myself was a little scary.  Well, all my fears quickly slipped away once I met all the staff there.  The first couple days of my boarding stay I was really nervous.  Did my parents leave me?  Were they coming back?  Will the other dogs like me?  Are the people nice?  I had a lot of questions and wasn’t sure who to trust.  After two days of being a little reserved and shy with the staff I finally warmed up to them, and boy am I glad I did.  I don’t know what I had to be nervous about, I got belly rubs and pet, and got to play with a tennis ball and run around like the crazy pup I am.  And when it was finally time to go to bed my room had a warm comfy bed and blanket waiting for me.  Once I warmed up to the staff I decided it was time to meet the dogs.

I was a quick introduction and loved playing with all the dogs.  There were big dogs and little dogs, and small dogs and tall dogs, there were dogs with two different color eyes and dogs that can’t hear, and dogs with spots, and dogs with lots of fur and dogs with almost no fur at all.  It was amazing to meet all the different types of dogs.  I never saw so many dogs in my life!  (But then again I am only 8 months)  Boarding at Preferred Pet Care was one of the most exciting events ever so when mom said I was going back for Daycare I was overjoyed!

Mom and dad were a little nervous about me taking the school bus to Preferred Pet Care.  Dad almost forgot and we went for a walk in the morning.  Good thing mom called dad and told him to make sure we got home in time to catch the bus.  Thankfully, we did.  Marci came to pick me up, after showing her the grand tour I was ready to get on the bus to get going.  I was a little nervous.  I just was watching “Forest Gump” the other night so I was little concerned that no one would let me sit next to them on the bus.  But thankfully, everyone was excited and happy to see me.  I did however make an instant best friend with Bolt.  Bolt is some sort of Bully Mix breed, he’s strong and built like a bulldozer.  I didn’t ask him yet, but I’m pretty sure we’re already best friends.  On the bus ride I sat next to Bolt and Ranger.  Ranger is relatively new to Preferred Pet Care he told me about how his family though has been using Preferred Pet Care for years.  They took care of his oldest sister (who he unfortunately never got to meet) Maggie, and his sister Bella.  Ranger is a Brittany who was a rescue pup and now enjoys his days coming to Preferred Pet Care with his sister for daycare.  Ranger introduced me to his nieces, Zadie & Ziva who also come to daycare on the taxi.  Wow!  It’s like a whole big family event at Preferred Pet Care.  By time I got to daycare I was even more excited to see what my day had in store for me.

Marci escorted us out of the bus to a yard where Crystal was waiting for us.  I got to meet the rest of the taxi pups who I didn’t have the opportunity to meet on the way there.  After I introduced myself to everyone Bolt and I decided to play.  Bolt is at least twice my size but it didn’t seem to matter we were like to peas in a pod.  After playing with Bolt for a little it was time to move us taxi pups over to the main playgroup.  More dogs?  What?  No way!  Bolt explained that this was only half the fun we have to join the playgroup and see who else there is for us to play with.  I was energized to see who else I could play with.  I joined the playgroup and recognized my familiar friend Marci in the playgroup who was supervising us.  Will, one of the senior veterans of Preferred Pet Care explained that there is always at least one person in the playgroup at all times, and depending on the activity level or the temperament of the pups that the group may be divided into two playgroups or have more than one person in the group.  Wow!  They’ve thought of everything!  Raven chimed in with explaining that sometimes they even take the really animated pups out and run them with a ball.  That’d be me I thought!  I played with at least 40 dogs.

Right when I was in the middle of playing with Wylie, a mini schnauzer, I heard my name, “Magic’s going home.  Magic”.  Hmm… I must be going home.  I’m still working on learning my name so I don’t exactly know it yet, but then again I’m only 8 months so you have to cut me some slack.  My dad came to pick me up.  Yippie!  I got to show my dad around and I plopped down and got my belly rubbed from Seth and Crystal.  Today was a very exciting day, and rumor has it I’m coming back next week on the taxi with both a ride on the bus to Preferred Pet Care and a ride home.  I’m so eager for next week that I can hardly wait!  Well, thanks a lot of letting me tell you all about my day and I will see you next week
