Happy National Pet Dental Month!

How many times a year do you go to the dentist?  Probably once or twice a year.  What about your pup?  February is National Pet Dental Month.

So in honor of National Pet Dental Month we’d like to dedicate this week’s blog to all about your pet’s dental health.

Bad breath in a dog may be a sign of periodontal disease which is the most common ailment suffered by dogs and cats over 3 years old.  8 out of 10 pets will have dental disease after the age of 3.  Preventing periodontal disease can result in longer, healthier lives for your pets.  Unfortunately since Fido can’t brush his or her teeth, learning how to or taking the necessary steps to help prevent plague build up is essential.

Have you ever brushed your pup’s teeth?  It may seem like a challenging task, so for a little help we have Dr. Sheldon Rubin give easy step-by-step instructions on how to teach your pet to accept a daily tooth brushing.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB3GIAgrTPE

So you think brushing your pet’s teeth is too hard?  Well, don’t worry there are other alternatives that can at least help with your pet’s plague.  TropiClean has an entire line of dental products to suit your pup’s needs.  They have water additives, clean teeth gels, fresh breath treats, and more.  Check out their website to learn more: http://www.tropiclean.net/categories/fresh-breath.php.  Preferred Pet Care carries many of their dental products and we have had great success and wonderful reviews about the product.  If you haven’t tried it yet what are you waiting for?

We love to see your pup smile & we know you do too.  Happy National Pet Dental Month!
